Read the story and please note that while it appears that the detainees rights are being violated, they are, in fact, being protected by not being returned to their home country, where they would likely be punished for their beliefs.
Kinda slick the way the story's written, huh? Makes the US out to be a great Satan when, in fact, we're protecting the detainees from a fate far worse than incarceration at Gitmo.
It's very interesting to note how far down into the story you have to read to get to the fact at the base of it. Do you think this means the writer or news service has, oh, say, an agenda?

"The United States has made it clear that it does not expel, return or extradite individuals to other countries where it believes that it is 'more likely than not' that they will be tortured or subject to persecution," said Lieutenant Commander Alvin Plexico, a Pentagon spokesman. "This is US policy as well as US law," he said.
Mike, it is not for us to decide which would be worse. I'd rather take my chances than be incarcerated.
