The cabal continues

Once again, we find that the international press hates us. Know what? I don't care anymore.

The leftys around the world will never, ever like us; the leftys here continue their hate America ranting and the press, well, the press is doing a spec-fucking-tacular job of being the megaphone for the self-loathing Americans who cheer when their own country is damaged.

And now the US, the nation known for more than a century as the world's melting pot, is accused of this:

Somber, oppressive and clumsily conceived, the project is a monument to a society that has turned its back on any notion of cultural openness.

Miss America to CMT

In the beginning of time, my Grandfather, Granville Hezekiah Steelman, born in the late 1800's, was one of the originators of this Atlantic City-based pageant.  Over the years, of course, it has become an anachronism and now truly deserves to be a product of basic cable.

An aside:  Grandfather Steelman was a wealthy man who was one of the businessmen who helped support Atlantic City through the Depression and my parents, bless their expectant hearts, gave me his first name as a middle name in the expectation that that would prompt the old boy to dump large bags of money on the Andersons upon his demise.

It didn't work.  The money went to his second wife.  And I'm hung with Granville as a middle name.  When I was a kid that was shortened to Granny and you can imagine the huge gobs of self-esteem that went down the toilet each time I heard it.

Tabloid gives donation for insulting burn victim

Stuart Zakim, a spokesman for American Media, Inc., which owns Weekly World News, as well as the National Enquirer, the Globe, and magazines such as Shape and Men's Fitness, acknowledged that the story was a mistake and said that the editors responsible for the story were fired.

"American Media stands for quality journalism," Zakim said.

Uh-huh.
