The bacteria, bacillus safensis, were found in a chamber in California that had been used to test the rovers. Officials believe it is likely some of the microbes, possibly from scientists’ skin, were on board when the mission left.

Is NASA multi-tasking?

There is considerable online chatter that this experiment is not just about the history of the solar system.  Some are asking whether or not this is a "star wars" weapons experiment and some are suggesting that this is a rehearsal for the deployment of an anti-earth killer, necessitated by the fact that somebody knows that something big is coming this way.
